so I think my G.skill 64GB (Jmicron) just stopped working...

    This is what I tried
-using the mini USB port - doesn't even show up in BIOS OR in disk management
-plugged it into my desktops SATA port same result

sooo, do you think it's dead? it hard to toubleshoot these things as tney have no lights on them or make no noise....

I only used the disk for about 8 months and it's been sitting collecting dust but I was just going to give my server a little upgrade... and nothing... when I have it plugged into the sata plug in my tower the computer takes about 5mins to start the windows bootloader, and after 5 mins I gave up on Windows and shut it off. take it out. everything is back to normal.

    safe to assume dead?

Ouch mate. My 120GB supertalent Jmicron controller ssd failed just under a year after buying it. Really sux. I had a 2 year warranty with supertalent - sent it back to california from the UK and got a brand new one back within a fortnight. What is the warranty situation on yours, if it is similar simply find your original invoice(mine was newegg) and attach it to a filled out RMA form and send it to them, should do the trick.

@sean473 I wouldn't count on these SSD's being faster than your HDD I have terrible stuttering problems with mine and it is the second one and less than 6 months old, here we RMA again...darn Jmicron!

the windows operating systems shutter for 5 second when they are run with ssd because ssd has a different memory usage.

i dont know but windows operating systems kernels are not coded for ssd.

the windows will occasionaly shutter when you use a ssd.

anyone have experience with G.skill support? the don't seem to want to respond to my emails... maybe I'll just have to all them.

I have the newegg invoice an I have 2 months left in warrenty.

anyone know if G.skill makes you pay shipping? if they do it might not be worth sending it in.

This was going to go in my Linux server. Linux does not have the issues windows does with SSD.
