I just want a really cheap laptop that might run Vista just to play about with the inside and mess about with a bit of software, but mainly for messing about with the inside.
I'd also like to do a lot of overclocking but I want the laptop to be cheap so if I like overclock a p4 to 4GHz and it blows I really couldn't care less. It would be nice if it was chunky so I could fit a water cooler.
I love EBay so I have no quarrels about second hand stuff - just as long as it works!!!
(Also is this post icon thing new? - I've never had the option to do it before?)

The Samsung R20 can be overclocked (see my review) but it won't yet be available in the second-hand market.
The same could well apply to other notebooks which use the ATI chipsets.

Unfortunately, notebooks aren't as cost effective as desktops, so you may want to reconsider.

It probably won't be until the summer so do you reckon it will be on the second hand market by then? Thanks loads for you help.
Yeh, I am already a bit of a desktop geek but I was sort of wanting to move onto notebooks abit to get the experience. Thanks though. Anymore ideas? -
I really would not overclock a P4 to more than 3GHz. I would suggest getting a Pentium M notebook. The Dell M170 would be perfect. It's got a decent CPU, a poweful nVidia 7800 Go, and you could stick some nice DDR II 553Mhz RAM in there.
It's a discontinued model, so you'd have to look second hand. -
You didn't mention anything about graphics. Do you need a dedicated graphics card?
I want to play........
