Hi all - looking for some help as my head is killing me trying to suss this out.

I currently have an HP laptop - model number DV2188ea.

The laptop has a Segate 100Gb HDD: ST9100824AS

I want to replace this with a 320Gb HDD; however it appears I need a SATA I HDD.

    My questions are:

Will any SATA I HDD be suitable for my laptop?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which HDD I should buy? I was looking at the following:

    Samsung: HM320JI
Fujitsu: MHZ2320BH - which you can apparently get as a 1.5 Gbps model (CA07018-B042)

Am I on the right track with those two? Would they work?

I don't want to order the wrong thing - but there is a lot of conflicting information out there.

    Thanks.
    MD

Yes they will work as long as they are SATA. I would opt for the Toshiba 320gb laptop drive it uses the least amount of power. The Segate has the best warranty. Hitachi is also good. I would steer clear of Samsung and Fujitsu

    Thanks for the reply.

Do you happen to have a model number for the Toshiba? The only 2 320Gb SATA drives I can find are the two I mention.

    Thanks again,
