Hi, I've never replaced a laptop's hard drive before and I'd really appreciate some help! My laptop specs are as follows:
Dell Studio 1555
P8600 Duo Core 2.40 Ghz Processor
ATI HD Mobility Radeon 4570
4 Gig RAM
Do I need to buy a hard drive specifically for this laptop? If so, can you provide a good link? I live in the UK and googled, but only came to American/Canadian Dell websites and they don't ship globally.
I just want a 320 gig hard drive @ 5400RPM (as cheap as possible).
Hope you can help out! Cheers in advance.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Any 2.5" 9mm SATA notebook drive will work.
Newegg does not ship to the UK, I don't know of any UK electronics retailers unfortunately. -

Someone has a reading comprehension problem.
OP, this fits your criteria. Installation should be a matter of removing a couple screws from the bottom of the laptop around the drive bay. This is usually marked so you know which ones to take off. Ease the drive out, and remove any screws attached directly to it, taking care to note the position and orientation of any caddy that holds the drive in place. Then just reverse the process with the new drive: attach screws to drive, place in machine, secure the drive bay cover, and you're done. -
Thank you kind sir. And might I ask, is this is a good quality hard drive? The price is great.
-
Yes it is a reputable/quality drive.

Would be better in my opinion.
Also Scan has been rubbish with returns recently, where as ebuyer have always been good with me. -
You could also use Amazon UK. Companies compete extremely fiercely for top placement (lowest price) on the Amazon list. I've found it to be the cheapest place to buy from.

Buying from Amazon is a good idea because they have a great return policy. They might not always be the cheapest, but spending a little more to get peace of mind should you have a problem is often worth it. -
Definitely. 5 year return policy vs. 3 year return policy here in Finland. I'd much rather pay the extra '4€' in this case on the next purchase I make. On top of that shipping is extremely quick, prices are always usually the lowest, seller reputation is usually really high as it's more 'company, business, retailer' orientated rather than private seller/auction like ebay. Not to mention you get to read reviews from people who have used the product.
It's a no quibble no muss no fuss website. Don't check anywhere else on the internet without checking Amazon as well.

Scan have been rubbish at returns for more than ten years! Ebuyer customer service is infinitely better.
@ OP - you may want to spend the extra £20 for a USB-SATA adaptor so you can just clone the old drive onto the new one, it will make your life easier. -

I would go with a western digital black if you can.
They are a little more expensive but you are paying for a drive made to a higher standard.
