Will Flight simX work better on this card I am also going to 2 GIGS of memory. On the X300 card with only 1 GIG of ram it was slow ans shuddered bad. I forgot to add I have a P4 1.8 GIG possessor.

You can't upgrade the X300 to 6800 if notebook.
-
is this in a laptop? if so, you CANN'T upgrade.
you need to get a new notebook. -
Read the stickies next time , as too many threads like this one show up.

As the others said, not possible (unless desktop)

Because you didn`t read the stickies properly.
95% of laptops have the GPU soldered in the mainboard, that means NO POSSIBLE UPGRADE. It`s what your stuck with.
5% use MXM technology, which means it uses an mxm modular user upgradeable gpu. However, some of those 5% use proprietary modules, like Dell, which only work in Dell laptops. True MXM gpus could be used in any laptops, provided they pass the requirements. Currently there are IV MXM with the TDP up to 45W (the 7950GTX and the 8800M GTX).
Even so,most of the time upgrading an MXM module can be done with problems, loss of functionality and so on.
Bottom line, your gpu is not MXM , and therefore not even close to being upgradeable.

Now I really have to wonder if you even read or understood my post...

I'm pretty sure the 9300 was one of the few notebooks where you could upgrade the vid card. You could upgrade it to the 6800/6800Ultra, and 7800 IIRC.
I'd imagine the 6800 would be able to play with passable frame rates on low settings. Not too sure, though.
Edit: Here's a guide showing how to do so. -
-
That is a workaround, and you can do it at your own expense. I was talking from the oficial, warranty included stand point.
The game will run low/med if that is what your asking. -

NYCUYVC - No You Cannot Upgrade Your Video Card. Used to tell owners of notebooks with an integrated video graphics (Intel X3100) that they can't upgrade it to a better dedicated graphics card (Nvidia 8600m GT).

OK it does look like upgrade might be possible. 9300's came w/X300 but option for Go6800. Here is a link to NBR review of 9300 w/6800. From that read it appears with the best drivers almost the same as 8400m GT in 3dMark 05. Definitely on par 8400m GS. This link lists it as being on par with 8600m GS. Ultra might work also as you found, and according to last link that would put it in the league of 8600m GT on older games. NBR review puts 6800 at about 3 times the card of X300. Other link has as 4 times and Ultra at 5 times. So yes game play should greatly improve and if it works I think you will be very happy! I have to say in all my reading I think you have a P M not P4?
Now good luck finding a DeLL 6800 or 6800 Ultra. I hope you can and if it was mine and I gamed it is a must do if you can! -

I'm just wondering if I will need to upgrade the drivers and change the bios and if so how do i do that?
-
Drivers yes BIOS maybe maybe not. DeLL site has drivers. Nvidia might also have them, and you could also Google and find hacked (tweaked) drivers for improved performance.

I remember upgrading the GPU back when I had a Dell 9300. I went from like the Go 6800 to a 7800 GTX or something. I forget now. I just remember a bunch of us buying a higher-end graphics card from Dell and upgrading. Or maybe that was the XPS Gen 2 I did that to. Either way the GPU was upgradeable on both but I think you had to a certain AC power supply in order to run the specific card.
-
That is a good point, OP should research. Card appears upgradeable and it may not stop at 6800 Ultra. And I could see a 7800 being a better value as newer and price might be the same, as more are likely to be in the supply chain.
