processor from the OEM i7-740QM on a motherboard rPGA988A with something new from this year. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations as to if this is possible? If so, what can I replace the chip with?
Between MS updates and the programs I use, this thing has slowed down and boot up times have increased.

Thanks in advance for any feedback,
    Jeff

Lol, you can't upgrade an old socket with a CPU from this year. You can only upgrade to better CPUs like the 840qm or 920xm. The 920xm is not recommended, the heat probably isn't manageable.

As for the graphics card... No. Unless there was an x505 that came out with the 560m or something, and then it really isn't worth it.
