I mean yeah can set up an external one but I was hoping to use it on my next trip in about a month. That 7inch laptop looks so nice for the price, and it's so portable.

Is there another laptop within a very portable range that has a dvd player.

Budget is a concern as I want to spend 600 or less. :D thanks.

ahaha wow. I would never spend that much on such a small laptop.

Thanks though. I keep an eye out for one in the near future. I still have 8 months for college, but just thought if I can find one now I will buy it.

1800 for that laptop? wtf are they smoking?

I can get a nice alienware or dell xps with that.

Yes, but are they as portable as this? ;)

If you look around, you'll see that most portable notebooks command a premium price. Many are put off by that especially when their specs are weak but those that crave this ultra mobilty don't mind paying the premium.

You have to admit, this notebook the size of my brother's portable DVD player which is also a full-blown computer is mighty impressive.

To be fair, there was another importer selling this for around $1400-1500.

I am interested in this model and would buy it in a heartbeat if they could make it a bit larger (screen also) and put in Montevina SFF.

Aren't there any USB DVD Players ? Also, why don't you rip them to the hard drive. You can compress them, it won't be that bad on a small screen !

Well, smaller laptops do tend to cost more. There's a point where big screens cost a premium, but there's a point where small screens cost a premium too. That's why all the budget notebooks are 14-15.4" (except for the EEE). Bigger screens means the screen is where the $$$ comes in, but smaller screens mean more R&D to try and cram everything into such a small space and still have adequete cooling.

EEE + external drive sounds like your only choice though. Perhaps a very slim drive. But powering it up presents an issue...
