My niece is turning 4 in two weeks and yes she likes to play on daddy's computer. My brother-in-law has an older HP zt1130 laptop that he would rather have my niece play on rather than his Inspiron 9300.

The battery and hard drive is shot and the system could use more memory so my brother-in-law gave it to me to repair/upgrade/mod for my niece....

I've already ordered a new battery, hard drive and extra memory now the fun part. I want to paint this laptop pink w/ probably a black bottom. My niece loves Dora the Explorer so I got some stickers to put on it also. Overall this project is costing me about $200 and some time so I hope she appreciates it.

My problem is on the back of the lid there is a HP logo sticking out that I can't take off. I want it to have a smooth finish so I can put some stickers on it. Anybody run into this type of problem? Any work around?

    Thanks.

depending on your abilities, you could fab up a thin-gauge aluminum or sheet metal cover that could be held on with double-sided tape, or velcro for that matter. make sure to fold the edges back on themselves and file down the corners.

actually, you could make the cover into a sort of customizable thing held on by velcro that she could take off, clean off the stickers, and re-do and put back on.

    use some imagination! :D

I've painted a few notebooks but never tried getting around brand marketing. Its nice when they just paint it on flat instead of some button! I always sand and then spray paint and such. I did a desktop awhile back like a ferrari. Has two ferrari flags on sides and is painted red and then I put a glass front with the flag stenciled on and inside with lighting for display a model car. Best of luck. Hate the buttons!

Cool idea! Might be a little out of my league. Not that I can't do it but I might not have the time to experiment like that. Maybe if I finish it quickly I will.

My DELL logo is actually indented into the cover, if I wanted to ever do my laptop I figure I could use some kind of automotive bondo on it. Unfortunately the HP logo just sticks out. I fear I may ruin the cover if I just try to remove it.

Have you posted pictures of your ferreri PC here?
