    Hey guys,

I stripped my Samsung R20 down to board level because the system was overheating very quickly and the fan sounded blocked up. My assumption was correct as there was a large amount of dust stuck in the gfx heatsink. I cleaned that away with a soft brush and that resolved the problem.

In doing so I've damaged my keyboard :(

For example if I hit the number 3 or T it'll output /[oiu333333333333333333 and it'll continue to do so.
Before I splurge on a new keyboard I'd like to know if it is only just the keyboard or perhaps it's something else affecting it? I may have bent the keyboard just a little when taking it apart other than that I can't think what else may have caused it.

Of all the laptops I've worked on it has to happen to this particular one

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Have you checked if the key is sticking?

If it is outputting multiple letters and numbers it most likely isnt a case of key sticking. It is possible you damaged the connector for the keyboard.

Check and see if its properly seated.

I'm hoping I've only damaged the keyboard and nothing else :(

If it's only that key chances are that's the only thing wrong. But like the above post already stated, it sounds like a stuck key. Have you illuminated that yet?

In any event, replacing the keyboard is a simple (unless it's an HP) and inexpensive affair. When the keys on my Dell broke I just used a wireless keyboard (which I use at home anyway) as a substitute.
