Ok, so I bought my trusty computer 4 or 5 years ago and at that time "learned" myself on everything I could so as to make the best purchase.
I then proceeded to stop paying attention because i had what i wanted.
5 years later and this has all changed, i'm finally looking into getting myself a new computer. So I mosey on into the amazing world of technology so as to get the best machine for my money and i have no idea whats going on .-.
So basically I would like to know which of these processors is better and if its not to much trouble why.
Intel Core i3-2100 3.10 GHz 3M Intel Smart Cache LGA1155
v.s.
Intel Core i5-2300 2.80 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache LGA1155 (costs ~106$ more)

2 cores vs 4 cores. The i5 win. But then the i5-2300 has a weird pricing. i5-2400 gets a nice 300mhz boost for an extra $10.

Pay a little bit more (~$20 over i5-2300)and get a i5-2500K. Its a quad core with an unlocked multipler so you can overclock it into the 4.5-5.0Ghz range if you know what your doing. If you don't want to overclock the 2500K it will still have better resale value since the "K" versions are more desirable.

You know that these are desktop CPUs right?

and...... have you used the nifty compare function at ark.intel.com?
