Free Rep to however can tell me what settings i put in Intel XTU to undervolt my i7-4700MQ (47W) into an i7-4702MQ (37W) to lower it's TDP.

    Reasons for doing so:

    - Less throttling
    - My CPU maxes at 3.3ghz even though it could do 3.4. Might as well lower to 3.2, it's only 5% and i shave off 10W.
    - Gonna grab SLI soon, and my 120W adapter can only hold so much, need to lower CPU TDP for room

I would like to know this too... I'm still trying to pick the right CPU for my XMG P703 that I'm ordering in 22 days :p

So far the 4702MQ makes sense, all I hope is that there wont be too much difference in framerates when comparing to 4700MQ. Also I hope that it won't bottleneck my GPU, which will be top of the line Radeon HD 8970M 4GB GDDR5.

Just set the multipliers to 1x = 3.2, 2x=3.1, 3x=3.0, 4x=3.0, set max turbo TDP to 37W, and adjust dynamic CPU offset to whatever your CPU can handle. Something like this:

But honestly, I would just clock down your 3x and 4x to 3.2, undervolt to -80 or -100 or whatever your system can handle, and leave TDP adjustment alone. This will keep temps down, but still give you more performance than the 4702MQ because it will still have a higher TDP and higher single and dual core clocks when needed.

I would opt for the 4700MQ over the 4702MQ especially if cost for the 4702 is same or more money. Not worth the added expense and it really doesn't run much cooler.

    Thanks man.

I need to lower TDP because like i said, i will be increasing power consumption with an additional GPU, so i need to give it some wiggle room on my rather small PSU.

Is it just me, or are my options to adjust turbo settings are locked??

Fyi i am using a modded bios with extra features unlocked.

Push come to shove you could hunt down the lower tdp model and swap but that is very costly. Throttle stop and try to force the cpu into a lower state.
