I have an IBM R32 laptop with Windows XP Pro installed.
I don't have and disks with the computer.

The keyboard is set as Standard 101/102 layout.
However, the keyboard has a backslash (\) but does not work.
When used it displaye a # symbol

    I use the \ quite a lot.

Does anybody know how to rectify this problem.

What country have you set the keyboard to in the regional settings (in control panel) and what country is the keyboard for? For example, if you have a UK keyboard but have it set to US keyboard in the operating system then you will get # when you press the £ key.
