I bought my IBM T42 with DVD reader/CD burner combo and now I'd like to upgrade to a DVD and CD burner.

What are my options? Do I have to buy something from Lenovo or are there are vendors who make compatible, possibly less expensive ones?

well considering that your current drive is not set up to be swapable then just buy a slim drive from newegg. I'd personally reccomend pioneer. And you'd have to open up the laptop pop out the old one and in the new one. :D

    Hi,

Thank for the reply. What do you mean by not swappable?

I am able to pop the existing drive out by pressing a button. Don't I just replace it with DVD burner?

    Thanks.

I did a quick search on Froogle, but couldn't find anything below US $200, which is way above Cdn$149...

Where should I look for it?

I would also like to know where to get it for that cheap. I know they are expensive for the t4x series because of the smaller size and extremely limited number of manufacturers.
