    Hi guys,

Im currently in the process of updating my trusty T41 (which i love to bits!) with the new T61.... The problem i have is this...

The T61 i want (NH365UK) comes with a nice 1680 x 1050 res LCD, perfect spec, but runs on the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M gfx card. I've done a bit of digging on the forums and I accept its not a massive gaming GPU (tbh, my 360 is for gaming!) but i wnat to know is this GPU capable of running Vista in its native WSXGA resolution with a very nice crisp smooth aero interface? The last thing i want to do is splash out £1300 on this laptop to find even the O/S is laggy

The alternative is the T61p with a Quadro FX 570M and WUXGA (1920 x 1200) screen which is about £1600!!!

Is it worth the extra £300 or wud the normal T61 do me fine for a lovely Vista experiance :)

ahhh excellent - what sort of Vista Aero score can i expect to gain with that card?

My T42 (not t41 as i said before lol) is only 1024x768 - do u agree it wud be unwise to jump in at WUXGA straight away lol? 1680 x 1050 seems like a nice widescreen resolution... Ive seen Aero running on my friends laptop and its smooth, but a bit choppy and laggy when hes moving and maximising stuff - that personally would drive me insane!!!!!

shall i just splash out and get the T61p? It should last me several years.... hopefully.... its got a pretty awsome gfx card, so i guess i could do some light gaming if i feel the need haha.

can u make WUXGA more readable anyway? someone told me if u "lower the res" past its native mode things can look a bit blurry and naff.. is there anyway round this in Vista Ultimate?

    cheers for your time mate!

do not splash the T61 sounds fine and you don't sound much like a gamer.

Running a t61 with Nvidia NVS 140 and vista home pro is flowing like a river baby. Have no doubts that this will run vista right out of the box with out a snag. As far as games, I have installed Quake 3 and can run a room full of bots at full video settings on 1024X768 resoulution all the while my fp3 meter is pegged at 90fps(which is the max the fps meter will read out). You'll love it.

I beileve the 140m should do just fine, i run vista aero at 1440x900 with out a single bit of lag, i would imagine that it could handle resolutions slightly higher then that such as the one you demand. However i my self have a t61 and i love high resolutions, so i would still recommend you get the higher res monitor, with the better video card. (and i mean better!) the 140m is already amazing at running games such as cs-source (100 fps no problem at 100% full graphics) i can only imagine that the newer quadro is a beast. What im trying to say is maybe wait another month or 2 and work up an extra 300 and enjoy your eye sqinting resolutions!.
