Sorry for the noobness of the question but what is the difference between that and a Stock OEM thermal compound? I'm refering to the Clevo P150HM. I surfed the web and found that the IC Diamond 7 is in a tube!? (I don't get cooling systems)

The stock thermal paste is just some cheap bought in bulk generic paste. IC Diamond and a lot of others use more expensive chemicals that help the cooling process a little bit better. I know in the MSI forum, users are reporting anywhere between a 3 to 7 degree (Celsius) decrease in GPU temp. I'm not to sure about the CPU but I'm sure it drops the temps somewhere around 5 degrees. A good thermal paste will allow you to overclock a little bit more and will also add to the overall live of the CPU/GPU.

So does this mean I have to apply the paste every few months? :|. This is my first time getting a gaming system.

Actually if you get IC Diamond, you probably won't ever have to reapply the thermal paste at all unless you decide you want to for whatever reason. Stock compounds sometimes deteriorate after a few years, and even most of the higher end ones its still recommended that you reapply it every few years.

Months would only be if you used some abstract TIM that wasn't made for thermal transfer... like Toothpaste :p

Ohhh..... :|. For a second there I felt like Homer. :|.Okay then so.. After a few years I can even apply a better paste if I wanted to?

Yes, if you want to, might be a good idea to anyway; but by then you might be looking at a new computer.

Just get the IC Diamond now and apply it. I don't know how you use your PC but it will help with CPU/GPU temps. It is very easy to apply as long as you know how to get to the CPU and or GPU. Just wipe off the current stuff and apply the new stuff. You just have to make sure all of the old stuff is completely off. There are many videos that can point you in the right direction.

Haha! Thanks for the information! :D. But that will not be necessary because I'm getting a brand new laptop already with the IC Diamond. :D. Thanks so much for the help.

Haha! I'm not one to really blow away a lot of money on a laptop unless it's really ancient. Thus me just getting my first gaming notebook. :|

Cool. That's a good choice. Did you pay for it or did you get it free with a CPU upgrade? Also, which gaming laptop did you get?
