does this allow me to connect my old 60 GB IDE/ATA hard drive to my laptop via USB, ANDD will it allow me to connect my NEW 160 GB SATA hard drive to my laptop via USB as well?
I'm new with these hard drive adapters, so I need some help!

Yes, you can use this adaptor to connect your older laptop harddrive to your computer.
I have the Vantec rebrand of this adaptor, and it is really good. It can be used on any 2.5 or 3.5" ide or sata harddrive. All you need to do is select the right port, and use an additional power source to power the drive.
I bought mine from newegg for about $20, and quite frankly its the best $20 can get you in the computer world. Compatibility is golden, and this little adaptor can do pretty much everything.

I've got a couple of these enclosures which support both PATA and SATA. It even includes an eSATA port.
It is actually called the Brilliant sMini and is sold by IPC Republic (Google may find other sources).
I like the eSATA feature since eSATA ports will become more common on future notebooks (or buy an adaptor card) in order to avoid the USB speed bottleneck.
