I am running windows xp and am currently using IDE emulation in my BIOS settings...
i am also running a SSD with reads of ~175... are they being bottlenecked to 133mbs by the ide emulation???
    thanks for all the help!
i tried downloading the intel matrix driver from the lenovo site and each time the installations "fails"
    thanks for all the help,

Appears you have a PM45/GM45 chipset using a ICH9M I/O controller. It's 3GBps capable, though check CAP.ISS in case you have been bios capped to 1.5Gbps by Lenovo. Set SATA Native mode (AHCI) in the bios to make it easy to check.

Another way to check would be an an Everest Interface read test as pictured in the Performance section here should be over 1.5Gbps =187MB/s when reading from the buffer directly if has an unrestricted 3Gbps link.
