Ok, so i thought up an idea, i think at least that i did think.![]()
Now, whats stopping us HP users from controlling our fan speeds, is the BIOS, correct?
Now, couldnt we install a Dell BIOS (from a Pc that has same/similar specs) and use the HP computer with a Dell BIOS? Then be able to control the fan speeds!!!! Because there is APPARENTLY no way to override.
Can anyone verify this is possible or explain reasons why it wont work?
Im tempted to try, but dont wanna skrew the computer. Help appriciated.![]()

BIOS code is written specifically for the hardware used by the laptop model; so no, flashing an HP BIOS with an image from Dell would fail utterly.

LOL at the notion. Messing with your BIOS is a surefire way to turn your laptop into an expensive brick. Unless you have a few spare motherboards laying around, you might want to be cautious.

Ok, thanks
Just an idea. -
You can control the fans if you like.
You can do it manually or forcefully.
Manually:
If you can find a stable 5 volt power source, like the USB, hub, and wire the fan to a potentiometer, which you can control via an external knob. That would allow you to change the speed of your fan
Forcefully:
You can short the fan controller on the motherboard, and it will force the fans to run at full speed all of the time.
These ideas will work and I have done them before.
Flashing your HP with a dell Bios will be a terrible idea. You would destroy your laptop.

Epic fail if you flash a dell bios on an HP.

I've seen people brick their mobos flashing the correct BIOS. Flashing the wrong BIOS....Bwahaha
You could either count on the Crisis Recovery Method, to reflash the original BIOS, or convert the surface-mounted BIOS chip into a socketed one, and keep a handful of BIOS chips to play around with. But all this, just for fan-control -- not worth it.
Either use a cooler, etc or trade it for a notebook that allows fan control.
