    Hi guys!

I had a quick question. I have an Asus UX302, and was curious to know what this component in the attached picture is called? It's comes from the LCD display. Also, is it possible to purchase an extender for it?

Thanks so much for the help!

Likely no extender. That is an eDP connector but they vary so much that they are more or less unique from laptop to laptop.

I use to cut and extend them by hand years ago when i worked for a computer company and the lcd cable was not long enough, I have done dozens of them, it`s easy.

    Hi Tinderbox!

That seems to be my trouble. I'm switching out LCDs, but the one screen I'd like to replace it with has a short connector. How does one extend them?

It`s very fine soldering and insulating the joints, do one wire at a time so you don't get mixed up and then re-shield the cable, and then re insulate the cable, it might not look pretty, but as long as you do one wire at a time, you cannot get mixed up.

See if you can find somebody local to extend the cable for you try computer/electronic repair shops.

When i extended cables i had all the tools and parts wire of the right thickness, I don't have access to that any more, I could still do it, but i would have to buy the parts try ebay old lcd display cables to cut up to use for the extension.

Below is just an example, just cut the cable up, it does not matter what color the wires are, just make sure you get a cable that is long enough and have at least the same amount of wires.

Just do a search on ebay for cables.
