Alright so for college next year I'm obviously looking into a laptop. As it currently stands I'm really liking the T60. So if I were to buy a T60 with a core duo, then later on down the road I could upgrade the processor to a Merom? This would be big as I wouldn't have to get the best one out there right now knowing that a year or maybe more from now I could up it to a faster 64bit merom. Does this sound like a good plan?

Yeah, you most probably should be fine. But the only other issue might be BIOS support. If Lenovo have native support or provide updates to the BIOS, then upgrading to Merom should not be too tough.
