If you have 2 or more exactly the same batteries for your laptop, what do you do with the extra one(s)?--any of the following:

    a. Keep it unused until the current one dies (several years?)

    b. Use both/all alternatively

    c. Sell it as new battery

Which of the first two is better?

    b) I think.

batteries don't store very well so you might as well get your moneys worth and use it while you can.

Out of the first two, always use both alternatively. Its nice to have a spare battery around anyway. Keeping it unused will just let the battery cells degrade, and by the time you need it, it wont be as good as new.

If you still want to store it though, best way to preserve it is to put it in an airtight zip lock bag and place it some where very cool, dry and away from sunlight. You can put it in the fridge if you like.

Thanks all. Btw I mean exactly the same battery, so for example if you have two 6-cell batteries.

Oh, seems none of you would sell it?

If I couldn't use them alternately I definatly would sell it. having an unused battery laying around is a waste as others have pointed out.

I charged my extra battery to 40% about 2.5 months ago, never used it, and now I found it has only 35% on it. It shouldn't lose so much charge should it?

(Looking at the sale prices of batteries, it doesn't seem good deals at all ;))

I'd use them both alternately if I need the extra battery life. If not, then I'd just sell it.
