    The problem is that it's Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) instead of SATA, and thus can't be put into today's notebooks. But yeah, I'd certainly go for a 10K hard drive if I could.

    The other potential issue is heat - that depends on the notebook. But I wouldn't be surprised if a decent number of notebooks today could handle 10K hard drives heat-wise, if near the upper range of the thermal specifications.

    It's probably slower than a 7200RPM 320GB hard drive. It's like selling a 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 processor. RPM only measures how fast the hard drive spins, after all. It sounds like a marketing ploy to me.

    I'm sure at that speed it would also run hot, consume more power and break sooner.

    there are quite a few 10,000 rpm notebook hds out right now...

    they are significantly faster, raptor drives always top the benchmark chart.
