So i just bought a "scratch n dent" Dell Latitude e6410 and a BNIB OCZ Agility 2 60GB SSD.

After getting both in the mail, I hooked up the OCZ with an external SATA to USB kit I have and tried to image to it with Acronis True Image 2009 Home.... The drive was recognized, but it kept throwing errors like:

    etc....

After much trial and error, the only way I was able to get it to clone was to remove both the HDD & SSD and hook them up externally as USB drives.. Even then it would error out when trying to clone the MBR over. In order to fix this, I had to do a Startup repair within Win 7, then it would boot.

Now one of the first things I've done since installing the SSD and booting from it was run HDTune Pro (trial)... The Health portion of this tool came back with a warning under the "Reallocated Sector Count":

Now, I know having damaged sectors is not a good thing, and it is especially not a good thing on a BNIB drive! What could have caused this? Was it the cloning process with Acronis, or were those sectors already there? Do I need to talk to Tigerdirect/OCZ to get the SSD replaced?

Help is very appreciated!!!

p.s. The reason I didn't just do a complete fresh install of Win7 was that I wanted to keep the recovery partition and Latitude ON partition that came with the Dell...

i just ran spinrite on the SSD and it came back with nothing found (which is a good thing)... perhaps HDTune is not very good software. this was my first time using it, so i'm not sure how much i should trust it.

i tried downloading SpeedFan and DiskCheckup to try reading the SMART data, but they both do not see any SMART capable drives with my Agility 2 in...

Nothing like reading the docs after the fact.....

Perhaps the initial problem was a bad copy routine? Did you use a copy/clone routine running from windows?

Return the OCZ SSD and get a new one. No sense in trying to troubleshoot when it does not work off the bat.

EDIT: Nevermind on my troubleshooting recommendation. If HDTune is reporting damaged sectors, welcome to the club of dud 60GB Agility SSDs.
