    Hi all,

I see that they now sell the dv1000 with the Intel graphics 900 chip. When I bought mine, it came with the previous chip, the Intel Extreme Graphics 2. Is there a way to upgrade to the newer one, no matter the difficulty? Thanks for the info in advance.

Next to Impossible(its more likely impossible), you"ll need to get a whole new motherboard(since the graphics card is integrated & the GMA 900 series graphics cards are only compatible with the 900 series chipset) and even then there would be the uncertainty on whether the motherboard would even fit in your case(different size, shape, the position of important ports...).

I wouldn't recommend upgrading...you're not going to see a huge performance increase, they are both integrated graphics and therefore not designed to provide much more than internet surfing and DVD movie viewing.

What are you doing that would benefit from the upgraded graphics?

I feel your pain. I bought my DV4000 about two months ago with the Intel GMA 900 graphics and now HP's just released it with the ATI Radeon X700 graphics, so I'm pretty ticked off. Thats computer technology for ya.

Actually, the GMA 900 isn't that much better than the IE2 graphics at all, you should see very little difference.
