I have the following problem on my EI Systems 4418 - the power supply seems like it might be a little inadequate?

Basically, sometimes the power supply doesn't seem to work - I get warning bleeps telling me the lappy is about to turn itself off. I have to wiggle the lead a bit until the charging light comes on. Also, the charger never seems to charge the battery up - you can leave it plugged in visibly charging for hours (with the lappy off), but turn it on and it'll be doing warning bleeps straight away until you wiggle the lead into the right place.

Seems to me either faulty charger, inadequate charger, or faulty battery?

The laptop requires a 20V 6A power supply. The power supply states that it is 18V-24V (typical 19V), 6A. Is this technically adequate or not?

I think it used to work OK, unless I've somehow suddenly started using the wrong power supply...

    Any suggestions much appreciated.

    Thanks

How old is your laptop? How old is your battery?

You're right to suspect it's a faulty charger. That, or it's the power pin connector to the motherboard. You will need to have a service center look at it to be sure.
