I have a Samsung 850 Evo on my Windows 10 laptop along with the Magician software.

I have noticed that when turning off indexing via the Magician software, Windows search cannot find programs and files at all, however when I activate indexing, it works.

    Is this normal?

Leave indexing enabled and stop using Magician to "optimize" your system

Cheers for the advice mate. = D

Is it normal for that to happen when choosing that setting though?

Magician screws around with the OS etc when it Optimises and breaks things... I wouldn't use Magicians tweaks and just do any optimisations yourself lol..

Yes, that is exactly what happens.

And one reason why using 'tuning/tweaking' utilities is a way to need a clean install of the O/S sooner rather than later.

If you do want to tweak, do it manually and test it fully (one 'tweak' at a time) and keep a diary (yes, I mean it) to document the order of the tweaks and to catch where different combinations may break your workflows over time (which may otherwise not be obvious if you are just doing a tweak and run, randomly).

Magician=Samsung virus except to update the firmware on their mostly subpar SSD's (2TB 850 examples, exempted... until tested further...).

Surprised that you didn't mention the need to keep frequent backups. I feel that it is Computer Common Sense 101, tweaking or not.

Agreed; tweaking or not, backups are a must.

To two different devices/brands. Preferably one that is rotated (with a third...) and kept offsite too. ;)
