Hey all, I know there are a tonne of threads about the grainy screens on most 1520s, but I have a curious question about them for those of you that have share this problem:
Upon checking out PC Wizard to find out more about the LCD in my 1520, it reported that my brightness for the LCD was only at 75%, when clearly it was set to max using FN + Arrow Up. Of course right away I go into my Nvidia control panel and make sure the brightness is correct, and while its set to 50 - turning it any higher results in a white-out of all colors. No other video options change this.
Now this doesn't change the fact that the screen is generally pretty terrible, nor could it possibly make it any worse - But I can't help but wonder that the screen might be tolerable if the brightness could be turned to 100%.
ps. Has anyone successfully got Dell to replace their LCD with a better quality one? I have complete care and on-site support, so I'm assuming if I yell at them enough they'll fix my **** - Any success stories appreciated.

yes hundereds of people have got their lcds replaced from dell and got better ones. dont yell just tell them that the screen is bad and u want a new one.

Ahh right on, any clue if they would do an on-site installation if I have the appropriate warranty? or do I HAVE to send it in.

u do have the appropriate warranty. call them and ask for them to sent a tec

Ok so Dell has told me that I have 2 choices. I can either send the laptop to purely have the screen replaced BUT it will be a refurbished LCD. OR since I've only recently gotten the laptop, I can just send it back and get a whole new one.
I'm turning to you guys for advice on this one - I'm fairly certain going with the new build would be the best option, and given that - what could I tell the customer service rep that would help my chances at actually getting one of the better LCD screens in my new 1520?
