    Hi,

I've searched relentlessly, but have come up empty handed regarding swapping the stock hard drive to an SSD drive.

I bought a 64GB SSD (OS and apps) to take the place of the stock HDD and want to use that one for storage. Basically this.

I would like to know which caddy to use in order to make the mechanical drive a "storage drive" using the optical drive bay.

So far I've found this caddy for $45, kind of expensive though. Would this work?

I've read about people using ebay caddys for other systems, would those work for the 15R?

    Thanks all!

The link that you provided appears to go with your laptop. If you are still unsure you can contact this person

    [email protected]

I have replaced my DVD drive with a hard drive purchased from that website and everything went smoothly. I also contacted the person I mentioned above just to be sure.

It is also expensive, but well worth it, IMO, an OS on a SSD, storage on HDD

Just any ODD caddy should work fine. If you want hot swap capabilities you need to install Windows in AHCI SATA mode.

Is there a DIY on how to install it in AHCI mode?

You just need to set SATA Operation in your BIOS to AHCI.
