I have a pair of Dell's original laptop, the 7000, with docking stations. Do you have any experience running this machine on Linux or can you suggest another use for them, besides boat anchors? I had to toss them when they still work..
    Thanks

Sorry, linux I don't know, but I wouldn't use them for boat anchors either. ;)

What I do with my old machines is set them up one last time with the original O/S, original programs and all the updates available and donate them.

Schools used to take them, but homeless shelters and other non-profits seem more appreciative lately, but I will first try to find a person I know myself that can benefit from my 'old' hardware.

No profit needed - each machine has probably earned its cost back to me a 100 times or more.

Good thought. I've re-cycled several of my deprecated servers, and I'm sure someone would like a vintage laptop. I knew there was a reason I hung onto my 98SE disk...
