    Hi I have a Dell Inspiron 700m 1.6ghz P-m..
I have 512 in it now and it really dogs when I do mobile recording. I want to drop a few sticks of 1gb in there. On the Crucial web site it recommends:
    200-pin SODIMM DDR PC2700

    My question is I can get a great deal locally on PC2-5300 667MHz 200-Pin SO-DIMM DDR2 ram..

Anyone know if I can use this DDR2 ram when regular DDR is recommended?

    Thanks so much!
    Josh

No, DDR2 is not backwards compatible to DDR.

Your notebook uses DDR ram and under no circumstances can you put DDR-2 of any speed into it and have it even come on far less even recognize the memory.

You have to use DDR spec ram as crucial's memory adviser has told you...

And you cannot use a few GB sticks either. There are only two memory slots there.
