    I askes a dell sales person what Ram was in a Dell 1520 and I was told it was SDRAM if i buy a G.SKILL 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) will it work?. I want to order my laptop with 1GB and add 2GB of RAM on my own to save money.

    That sales guy didn't know what he was talking about or maybe he meant SODIMM and that is what you want....

    The GSKILL one will work fine........

    That's an idea, that is what i did tooo...., the dell memory upgrades are tooo dear....

    I want to buy the 3gbs on my own and install them mmyself to save me a few bucks. I was looking at a
    - Kingston 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)
    - G.SKILL 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)

    Would this memory work on my dell 1520?

    All 200 pin DDR2 SODIMM will work in your laptop....

    But, if you are considering 3 GB, why not max out with 4GB? I am sure you would be getting Vista Home Premium and a 64 bit version of that is available and you can make use of the complete 4GB that way.....
