i originally had the b130 1.4ghz celeron m notebook with 512 ram.. I just bought another gig for it and im not really noticing that much of a difference. When i opened the notebook there were 2 256 ram chips and i removed the one on the top (closest to you when you open it) I was wondering if it matters which slot i put the gig in, would it go faster if i put it in the bottom slot??? THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!

Did you check in Windows to see if the memory was accounted for? (Windows key+Break) Now the amount of memory shown may be a little less than what you actually put in (Your computer's integrated graphics shares a bit of memory with the rest of the system) but it should be sizable.

If you aren't feeling a difference between 512MB and 1.5GB of memory, you're probably being bottlenecked by the CPU rather than the memory. If that's a NetBurst based Celeron it would probably explain a lot...

Or if you don't need all that memory. Say you're a light user and only need like 300mb of ram. Then it doesn't really matter if you have 512mb or 1536mb available because you only use so little.

Try opening up like 30 windows and then you'll see the differnence.
