Hey, just wondering if anyone would be able to help me out....I have an Acer 5710G laptop with the following specs: Intel Core 2 Duo processor (1.66GHz), 1GB DDR2 RAM with a 160GB HDD and have just bought another stick (1GB) of RAM to upgrade. However when I put in the new RAM, and restart the computer, it wont even load up and go to the desktop. What the???

    Restart your computer?

I hope you have unplugged it and the battery from the notebook and then put the new ram init? Otherwise it's likely that you burnt the memory.

It sounds like you have put it in while it was on, that's why i'm asking!

Shut your computer off and take out the battery and test the RAM in the other port to see if it does a difference. Just try the usual when something strange happens.
