Hello
I just installed M4 into my older laptop.
Installed Win764 all OK
Tested and results are crappy
Anybody know why?
Thnx

tilleroftheearth Wisdom listens quietly...
Was this a new or used/thrashed SSD?
-
Have you tried updating the drivers/firmware?
-
Did you do a clean install and if you didn't, are you sure the drive is properly aligned? How full is the drive, is it almost full or is there only a couple of GB on it?
He's on FW0309 which is no longer the latest, latest is 000F. -
were you running a lot of somethings in the background? like a defrag?
also, run WEI and post your score -
It seem the drive is being reported as a SCSI device. I don't know if that is related to your problem, but shouldn't it be a SATA device?

Exactly Siberia !
This is what I am confused about ..
The drive is SCSI from unknown reason .. no second SSD and no RAID setup..
It is nothing to do with firmware this current firmware is better than latest one
Thing is SSD is fitted in 5 years old laptop..
When Is fitted it in my new Acer all is perfect
And Guys what do u think when this laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi 1554) is from 2007 what version of SATA is there? -
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
Those results are not good at all... this is a fresh install if Win7?
Also, more specs on the laptop would be helpful to identifying a problem. -
Hi thnx for reply
Actually this SSD is installed in laptop from year 2007 and bios reporting drive as RAID and I have one HDD ni two .. how it can be RAID? -
SATA 1(150MBps).
-
Aah that is what i didnt want to hear aah oh well
That means fitting SSD in old laptops is useless ! -
It's still surprising that you're getting speeds this slow, but if you're running in IDE mode on SATA 1.5Gbps, then i suppose it's possible. You still get way faster random speeds than on a regular HDD and that on the other hand will still speed things up, but not as much as it would on more recent SATA interfaces.
We all knew what you meant, but still fixed it.
-
Nope! 150 Gbit/s would be nice though.
-
Oops my bad, i read Mbps instead of MBps.
So we all knew what i meant, but my fixed it was a fail!
-
But perfirmance is 6.4 with win 7 index
-
The 5400RPM drive in my mom's laptop scores 5.9. I'm pretty sure that drive should score 7.9.
-
Is there any other SATA driver that you could try use with that laptop, like the generic Microsoft one in Device Manager? ("Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller")
-
7.9 on a SATA III port, mine scores 7.8 on SATA II.
-
Of course score is 7.9 but with SATA III and that is in my acer
But my girlfriend's laptop is SATA I as you stated
Usual HDDs has 5,5 or 5.6
No I am using VIA RAID controller ..
I dont know but som reason it cannot be ured offthat RAID ..
It's still presists even with one HDD/SSD..
ILL post som pictures later on .. -
My Intel X25-M 80GB scores 6.9 in Windows 7 WEI installed in my Inspiron 6400 (SATA-I controller stuck in IDE mode). Sequential read comes up as ~125MB/s.
In Device Manager, if you select the controller, right-click it-> update driver, browse my computer, let me pick: Do any other drivers show up when "Show compatible hardware" is ticked? -
Yeah I know I have latest drivers
VIA VT6421 RAID Controller 6.0.6000.6210 -
Nono, I mean if it lets you pick other drivers there. For example: http://puu.sh/xCjh
-
No it wont ..
You refering to intel controller and my MB has VIA controller chip..
So intels cannot be nstalled ..
I have only intel chipset that's it ..
I would have to pick some microsoft generic basic driver .. -
My question is only if Device Manager lists any other drivers at all (but only when "Show compatible hardware" is ticked). I'm not meaning to ask you to try install Intel's RAID drivers.
-
Ill check that once i get home from work ..
Edit :
So here it is
Installed Crucial M4 128GB - poor performance results ?!?!
