Today I was able to install the mtron mobi 3018 on my dell D430. Here are the hdtune results.
SSD is set up on UDMA 5, and booklet says for best perfomance to use UDMA 6. I have no idea how to change that. My BIOS do no show such information.
I did not get what I was expecting, but still, it is 100% better than the toshiba 80HDD 4200 rpm that came with it. (Access time on the toshiba was 16.4ms, and Average was under 30mb.sec)

Sometimes, I feel the SSD freezes, for a few seconds. Not sure if it is the SSD or other component, but the computer tends to freeze a couple of seconds. Boot up time is amazingly fast compared to the toshiba HDD.

Anyone knows how to change the UDMA? does Dell D430 supports UDMA 6?

ICH8-M datasheet tells us Integrated IDE controller supports Ultra ATA100/66/33. Ultra ATA/100 can achieve read transfer rates up to 100 MB/s and write transfer rates up to 88.9 MB/s. I believe ALL Intel chipsets with a PATA interface are limited to ATA100/UDMA5.

In practice, Everest buffer-read test reports the maximum interface read transfer rate on a 2510P with a Travelstar 80GB HDD attached to be 87MB/s as shown here.

Worth performing the same test on the MOBI and D430 to see how close to Intel's claimed maximum of 100MB/s you can reach.
