So I recently added a 2GB stick of RAM to my Fujitsu ST5112, which had a single 1GB stick before, for a total of 3GB. I ran memtest86 for 2 passes and it found no errors. However, since I installed the RAM I've gotten that blue screen crash thing twice. The screen with the error message comes on for a second, then the computer automatically shuts off and restarts. I also used HDtune to check the hard drive, and no errors were found. I was wondering if it's possible that the RAM is still bad even though it passed memtest? I just bought it and can return it, but would rather not bother if that's not the issue. Maybe the crashes are just a coincidence? Anything I can do to troubleshoot this?

Even is the ram isn't bad you could still have a bad or corroded connection.

Cleaners like Stabilant and/or Caig Labs DeOxit can do wonders for connections.

Does the old RAM causes the BSOD?

I would run memtest for overnight and see if you get any failures.

I don't think it's the old RAM, because I never had this problem before installing the new stick. But I guess anything is possible. I'll run memtest overnight tonight and see if I get any errors.

Could be a faulty RAM slot or incomparability between the two modules.

Try each SODIMM in the slot that the original RAM worked before the upgrade.
