Hi, im looking to install a 2nd SSD and chucking it into raid0 config, will i need to format the first SSD and reinstall everything like windows 7 etc?

As was said, yes. Creating a RAID array of any type effectively wipes out all data on all the drives involved in that volume.

the RAID driver is also needed.

should i use a program like Erase to format my first SSD or will a normal windows format suffice or just put in 2nd SSD, set raid0 and it should just want to make a whole new install?

Just put in second SSD, set your BIOS to RAID, set the RAID options to RAID0 and by this point you simply have an available, unformatted drive to install your O/S to.
Before you do the above: make sure you've moved/copied your DATA to a safe place though! (A USB stick, an external HDD or over the network to another system...). -
But I don't know if it also includes drivers for non Intel RAID-controllers. -
Of course there is always the slipstreaming option -
