I ordered a Sager NP9170 from Xotic about a month ago, and it's scheduled to arrive next Tuesday the 19th.

I also got a 256gb Samsung 830 SSD off of BuyDig seperately and I'm having trouble finding out exactly what I need to do to install this SSD into the laptop and have it function correctly. It will probably be the first thing I do once I get the laptop.

Could anyone give me some pointers or anything?

Remove the hard drive, replace it with the SSD.
    Install Windows.

As simple as that. No different than a hard drive. If you mean more detailed instructions where it's at, etc just remove the bottom access panel and voila, there you go.

If the Samsung 830 didn't come with a small plastic spacer, you'll need to make or find one. The bay in the NP9170 is designed for 9mm (or 9.5mm) thick drives, while the 830 is 7mm thick. Without a spacer, it may rattle around, damaging the connectors.

Beyond that, it's as simple as putting it in and installing windows.

I just got the Samsung 830 and it doesn't have any spacer on it. Can I buy this separately or is there anything else I can do about it?

What's up guys. Sorry for the crazy late bump but I've been searching the forums and this thread is the closest I've come to helping resolve my issue. I'm trying to install my new samsung ssd in my sager np9150; however, the particular drive i'm trying to get to isn't the one that's easily accessible through the hard drive bay. When i purchased the laptop it was done with two hard drives, a 750 gig notebook hard drive (the one I'd like to leave in the system), and a 60 gig ssd (which is the one i'm attempting to replace). I'm wondering if anyone could help me locate the ssd and inform me how to remove it.

    Thanks.

I just use cardboard. Works fine.

If I recall correctly, it is in a bay under the other 2.5" hard drive.

Yea actually after searching the interwebz a bit more I determined that I was more of a laptop novice that I originally thought. The sata drive I was looking for is actually an msata and is located under my keyboard (I ordered the wrong ssd). So I've sent the ssd back and ordered the msata. Ill put it in when it gets here. Thanks anyway for the help. Its much appreciated.
