Hey guys, I'll be getting my 8510w soon, but it didnt come with an N card, lets just say that in the future I want to install this(right now it has a 4965AG card), will I run into any trouble? Is there anything that I will need other than the card itself, will it work, and are there any pictures of the 8510w innards? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

There's an access door on the bottom. Remove the screw, take off the cover, and it'll be right there.

You'll need to disconnect the antenna leads, pop out the card, then reverse the process.

As a warning, reconnecting those antenna leads is pretty tricky.

Thanks for that, I found another page on HP's website, but its not as detailed as this.

Btw guys, will I be able to install this without any problems, or is there any software whitelist type thing that blocks installation of non HP wireless cards, by that i mean ones you buy from somewhere other than HP.

btw, thansk for the warning grsguy

If Vista (I assume?) doesn't automatically recognize your new hardware with the New Hardware wizard, you might have to hit the start button and type device manager and launch that just to see if it's installed correctly. Other than that, just make sure you shut down your computer, take out the battery and press the power button a couple of times to ground everything before your remove the card.

Thanks for all teh tips guys, I have the installation part down, thanks to those vids, but I have heard that HP has some sort of whitelist where only the cards they sell can be used in the laptop, is this true or can I pickup any 4965AGN and install it without problems?

I honestly don't like HP for a number of reasons, but I haven't heard anything about a whitelist. Vista will detect any new hardware, so it shouldn't be a problem unless you rely on all that junk HP software to connect to a network. I would reccoment the Intel WiFi Link AGN card. It's fantastic. Amazing signal strength/range with an MIMO N router and an N card.
