So I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. This is in anticipating my X61 Tablet's arrival on Wednesday.

I want to do a clean installation of Vista Business. I'm not sure what happens to my preinstalled Microsoft One Note. If there's a way to transfer it from the old hard drive to the new one. I don't want to buy another copy.

I'm using an external cd drive. What are the steps... or a link to something that I need to do in order to install the hard drive?

you can try using acronis true image to clone the data from your old harddrive to your new harddrive.
I think you can select which files you want to clone, so just clone the microsoft program file, and that should be all. Than just use the image made to install one note, after the operating system is installed on your new harddrive.

Use a program such as Magic Jelly Bean or Belarc Advisor to get your key and then use the trial and your factory key and you are back in business.
