Yup, you'll be doing a recovery install to the new hard drive.

Assuming that Toshi hasn't crippled your recovery disks somehow, things should load right up as if you had just bought the lappie new.

Don't those disks rely on a recovery partition written to the HDD? And therefore won't work on a new drive?

(I'm no expert, I got myself an OEM copy of my OS disk ASAP, but I think that's how they work)

I have recently upgraded my HD, I used Acronis Migrate Easy to clone my HD and installed the new HD as I have OEM Vista.

It should work but i would look for a better hard drive... look out for the 500GB Hitachi 7K500 and if u want , u can look for the 250GB version... if u look out for offers , its for $80... otherwise its about 100 but its worth it as it is fast...
