I have spent the last 5 days trying to get this to work with no luck. Go ahead and talk to me like I'm an idiot, I must be if I can't get something this simple done right? :D

    I have a Toshiba X205-S9349 that came with 2 X 120gb 5400 rpm drives and windows 32 bit Vista. I am trying to install 2 X 7200 rpm drives.

I tried using Self Image and Norton Ghost to copy the OS and files over to the new drives but was told I didn't have "permission". I have given full "permissions" to the new drives in the disk management screen so I'm not sure what that problem is. When I try using the Toshiba Recovery disk I get a "system not compatible" error.

I have tried loading x64 Vista on the new drives and it doesn't see the new hard drives. I have the drivers on an external drive and when I browse to it I get told that it can't load the driver.

Do I have any options other than shipping this back to the States and paying to have it done?

If you have any advice or instructions, talk like you're taking to an 8 year old, maybe I'll finally "get it" then.

    Thanks,

I don't know the solution but I suspect that the notebook won't be able to use the HDDs until you have set up the RAID configuration. Have you checked the BIOS for options or is there a separate utility?

Or maybe it is easier. Read here.

Thanks, I'll go read that link you posted now. There is no option in the BIOS that helps. When I do load the BIOS on boot, it sees the hard drives and recognizes them as 120gb Fujitsu units which is what they are. I have even tried leaving the original in bay 1 and putting a new one in bay 2........when I do this I can use the new hard drive to store files, access them with no problems etc, but when I try to load the new 64bit OS onto the new drive I'm told I have to boot from the install disk, when I do that, the drive is no longer visible and I can't install to it.
