Integrated GFX: Intel GMA 900 vs. SiSM760GX = Negligible Difference?

    Anyone?

Worth noting that the systems i'm looking at with the components consit of:

    $920 - Aspire 5002LMi - 1.6gzh 64bit AMD Turion, 512mb ram, SiSM760GX

    vs.

    $600 - Aspire 3623WXMi - 1.6ghz Celeron, 256mb ram, Intel GMA 900 (on 910 chipset?)

    both with CD-RW/DVD-RW

    I'm leaning towards the 3623WXMi because 256 ram doesn't cost 300 bucks :p

I'm not familiar with the SiSM760GX, but you could google results. But if you plan to game, stay away from these notebooks! Also you can't compare a 1.6ghz Turion with a 1.6ghz Celeron. The Turion is a lot more powerful! As for the graphics, they will most likely perform about the same. But if I were you I would visit the "What should I buy" thread and then fill out the FAQ.

Just to throw out a couple more notebooks that you could look at. The Dell XPS M140 / 630m and the v2000z.

Hmm... thanks plenty, yes games will be reserved for my mighty desktop.

And I did suspect the turion was better but how much I wasn't certain... the 300 dollar price difference appears slight more understandable now though.

Either of those should do just fine for non gaming purposes. The GMA 900 might be slightly better, but then againg it is negligible for common tasks.

One thing though, be wary of low end Acers, they tend to have smaller 4 cell batteries which will give you terrible battery life(<1.5hrs)
