What is the best Intel processor "family"? Core 2? Centrino?

    Any posts welcome, thanks.

AFAIK "centrino" is NOT a processor ;) it is a combination of an Intel processor + Intel chipset + Intel wireless...

If I had to say I would say the core 2 series because it is currently the fastest...

Best family? Hard to say, since each has its purpose. I like the Conroe L series coming out in late July because of the increased FSB from 266 to 333. Pricing on the L are great, you should be able to get an 3GHz E6850 for $266. Also Penryn when that comes out later, because of 45nm process technology.
