The drive arrived around noon. Easy peasy except for the tiny screws. Cheap metal bracket, but it does the job.

Did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional x64 from flash drive. Took less than 15 minutes. I have a 1TB eSATA drive dock so I just launched other stuff from there. Loaded the chipset drivers, management drivers, then the Toolbox. Ran through everything on the Toolbox, ran a command prompt to verify Trim is on and that's pretty much it. I ran those first 3 in that order before loading other drivers, etc. FWIW, it came with the latest firmware already installed. 4PC10362 The pack date was 11/11/11.

Palm rest is much cooler and everything is snappy. No need for a spacer and it's pretty clear that Intel rep was trying to up-sell me the retail kit by saying Toolbox may not work on an OEM drive.

    Couldn't be happier.

Welcome to the SSD club...good to see it go so smoothly! Also...another benefit of the tool kit is that you can firmware flash through it. I have a factory installed 300 GB Intel 320 in my HP Envy...and the HP firmware flasher won't recognize my SSD. Intel Tookbox found a firmware update...flashed and rebooted...in a matter of a few seconds. Check your firmware...most updated one from Intel is 4PC10362

I have been using an intel 320 drive (160 GB) since April '11. Have never had any issues since the very first day.

I posted the firmware version (shipped with most recent) in my original post. ;)
"FWIW, it came with the latest firmware already installed. 4PC10362 The pack date was 11/11/11."

Not first SSD. Had one in my Dell Mini 9. But first one in this laptop.
