    Hello Everyone,

I seem to be having a problem with my 300GB 320 intel ssd :(

I seem to get stuttering sometimes. Around 4-5 times an hour. It gets very irritating.

I have the intel rst drivers installed from the dell website for Alienware M15x.

Could someone tell me how to fix this problem?

Do you have the Intel SSD Toolbox installed?

Try to run a manual TRIM and leave the drive/system idling for a couple of hours.

it doesn't sound like normal behaviour though without knowing the detail, not much can be said.

I have never heard of stuttering on 320 series drives. Could it be another program hogging the resources in the background?

Check your taskmanager during stuttering and report the RAM/CPU usage.

I have the intel ssd toolbox and did run the trim and let the system idle for the night.

However today I noticed stuttering when playing a video from an external drive. I will look into task manager and put the reports here.

An external drive? Doesn't sound like the 320 is the problem?

Does copying the video to the SSD and playing it from there still result in stuttering?

Was the external being indexed during the video playback?

Was the external being scanned by A/V during playback?

What A/V software are you running (betting Norton/McAfee here...).

Is your system running full disk encryption, by any chance?

I have noticed stuttering during normal use of the PC. However this was the first time I noticed stuttering while playing a video from the external. The external was not being indexed. It only happened once during an hour long video. The external was not being scanned either.

I use mcafee but never had an issue before. Been using it for the last 2 years and atleast 2 months with the ssd. Stuttering started around a week ago.

The system is not running fully disk encryption either.

McAfee has had problems before with SSD's - their KB (knowledge base) isn't working right now either... sigh - no links to show you.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is an update with the same old bugs from them.

Is the Intel SSD Toolbox saying that the system is setup optimally for the SSD?

I would be trying MSE (after uninstalling McAfee...) right about now.

I've been running McAfee no problems on 3 Intel Gs (80, 120, 160) in a Toshiba netbook, Lenovo T61, and a HP DV7T since last Xmas.

sounds like you are barking the wrong tree, what made you think that it is the SSD at all ? I have once seen these unexplained behaviour of very jerky mouse response and it ends up to be some driver issue(not sure which one but in my case seems to be related to some power management thing).
