How does this SSD compare to the vertex 4 (128gb)? how much does it usually cost, its priced at $140 (+10 shipping), is that any good? thanks. i notice the 330 has lower IOPS compared to the vertex 4, how does this affect performance?

    See:
    AnandTech - The Intel SSD 330 Review (60GB, 120GB, 180GB)

As far as I know: there are no 240GB versions of the Intel 330 SSD.

Furthermore, I would suggest the Sandisk Extreme 240GB instead of the Intel 330 Series (even if they are available in the 240GB size).

The 240GB model was released later than the rest of the line-up. While the SanDisk Extreme would normally get my vote, unfortunately, there aren't that many deals for it right now. The real world performance difference is small enough that I'd have no problem recommending the Intel 330 240GB for $140 over the SanDisk Extreme 240GB for $160-180.

    Thanks for the link.

I think that I may even have to use this drive for less demanding (i.e. not 'my') workflows.

For that price it would be hard to recommend anything else - even the 256GB V4 which is about 2x the price here.

With an adequate partitioning scheme (from first use...) leaving as much 'unallocated' space as you can afford to never use, this could be a good deal overall.

What is your typical use of this system? If it is not too demanding (in either writes or % filled) then it can be a good fit at an excellent price.

Not a good idea with any SSD (aside from enterprise drives which already come with 30-40% OP).
