Hello guys.
Benn googling for about 2 days now, about which SSD i should choose - just bought a new M4600 Dell laptop - so i want a SATA 3 SSD.
Earlier i had a OCZ Vertex Limited Edition, but this drive failed after about 6 months, then swapped to a Intel 320 drive - that's one of my big concerns about OCZ.
But now i'm confused again, seems like the Vertex is a lot faster than the 510, but is it something i can "feel" in the daily use?
There's a lot of benchmarks around the world comparing theese 2 drives, but i don't know all theese different things the drives is benchmarked.
Daily use, what would you guys prefer?
-
Intel, Intel, Intel.
OCZ has so many quality control issues, and SandForce controllers themselves have issues, that it's a huge gamble to use most non-Intel SSDs (in this user's experience). -
Yeah, that's also what i read... But if the drive is so much faster, isn't it then worth it?
Or isn't the higher speed something that will be markable in a normal windows 7 enviroment? -
The Vertex is is not much faster in REAL USAGE. The only way to really pick up on the speed differences in most uses between the various SATA 3 drives is using fairly high-precision timing equipment. You are talking fractions of seconds on 30 second operations in many cases.
And RUN AWAY from OCZ. Their failure rate exceeds 20%. That's ridiculous. Intel, Crucial, Samsung, those are the brands to be at. Crucial's M4 is a direct competitor to the 510 and the Vertex 3, and stacks up comparably. Samsung has their SATA 3 drive due out in October. Get any of those 3 brands, don't get anything Sandforce-based. Especially not OCZ. -
Okay.. Glad to get that clear!...
I'm ordering af 510 240 gigs, so it will be here when the M4600 arrives
Intel 510 or Vertex 3 240 gigs in my Precission M4600
