Hmm. I don't know, but I would like an answer as well...

I noticed my intel 5300 is always very hot, then I tried a broadcom model that was much cooler. But performance was much worse.
Does anybody know if broadcom wifi cards generally run cooler?

    6200AGN.

There is no point in upgrading two a three antenna card if you currently only have a two antenna card.

You might also need a half height mini-PCI adapter or bracket.

My G50vt came with 3 antennas and a 2 antenna card. So it might be worth upgrading if you have the spare antenna. Personally I didnt notice any difference in throughput, though I think the signal is a little more constant now with the 3-antenna setup. Might be purely psychological though.

I thought Lenovos have specific WLAN adapters...you couldn't just swap in any old Intel one..

Yeah, you need one that has the right firmware on it to report itself as kosher to the bios. Stupid stupid stupid.

Yeah that and HP have specific HP branded ones too. Adunno if it applies to ones that already have an Intel Wifi Link already in there though..

It does. The card used must report that it is an HP or Lenovo 'version.'
