I have my Alienware 17 running with a 60GB intel mSATA ssd, which was working fine. I rebooted windows for some updates, and then no more boot disk found? It shows up in the BIOS, but somehow it is unable to boot from it? Any ideas here gents?

Try booting a "live" Linux CD/DVD/USB and check whether it "sees" a file system on the SSD.
Good luck. -
I didn't even need the linux CD, the windows restore USB I made clearly sees it in diskpart, and "startup repair"
Unfortunately, the BIOS still refused to pick up the boot sector so......I ended up doing a fresh re-install and now everything is fine. What a weird bug. -

Should have known better than to trust anything with a sandforce controller.
